Coronavirus, aka COVID-19 is contagious and not all those who contract the virus are likely to show symptoms and might themselves, not be aware.
Caution and prevention coupled with good hygiene practices are the best tools hitherto available, together with keeping one’s immune system unencumbered; an already compromised immune system, either lacking in essential dietary intake, or weakened by stress, is more susceptible to harbouring contagions. This is especially worse for those taking in immune-suppressing drugs for other medical conditions. [i]

Although not officially declared as a pandemic, the contagion known as COVID-19 has been spreading throughout the globe, reaching as far as Chile, Iceland and Togo. [ii]

According to World Health Organisation, studies suggest that coronaviruses may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days.
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, dry cough, generalised aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhoea; these symptoms may start mild and progress, yet, some of those whom are infected don’t develop any symptoms. Seniors with underlying conditions like hypertension, cardiac problems or diabetes are more likely to develop serious illness and should take extra precautions like social distancing. [iii]

It would be advisable to avoid crowded or highly frequented areas like indoor public gyms and refrain from joining group classes and such like. Not only for yourself but also for your household, since there is very little information available in regards to the effects of this virus on infants and children.

When exercising, choose outdoors as the fresh air will help enhance immunity and thoroughly oxygenate the cells. Best to exercise in fast bursts keeping the session length under 45 minutes with complete control over range of motion and pack your exertions into 90 seconds to 3 or 5 minutes. Exercising towards fatigue is not recommended. Exercise should cause energy loss in correlation with intake and available energy. Long distance running and any type of continual exercise that causes fatigue and leaves you defeated will also compromise your immune system.

Stay well hydrated throughout the day. Sunlight is a great disinfectant.
